Technical & Technologic solutions:

Spami has almost 30 years of experience in building complete vision systems for our glass converting division Nuova Ompi. This includes mechanical design (3D), optical and lighting configuration and all software algorithm development.

The complete process of building integrating and commissioning of a vision systems is handled by Spami for new or existing lines.

Our vision systems are used to inspect a wide variety of glass products including ampoules, syringes, vials, cartridges; clear, amber and silk-printed with full quality control of the printing.

The close collaboration on the development of inspection systems and control technologies with the sister company Nuova Ompi has created a continuous exchange of information about the process and a continuous feedback about the best solutions to install on the machine

Process:

Spami systems are used to check many aspect of glass products, during production, covering 100% quality control.

This includes geometric tolerances, cosmetic (glass particles, cracks, knots, air-lines etc) aspects, printing and opc (width of cut, gaps in color code rings etc.).

The measurements are normally performed during production at high speed. This way only good products, not containing defects, are packed.

The geometric measurements are normally performed on the forming machine, and the results could be used by the machine as a feedback for automatic regulation of the forming process. This way the number of defective products produced by the machine could be dramatically reduced.

Typical cosmetic defects found on vials include, cracks, chips, contamination etc. On syringes defects can be found on the flange, body, shoulder or tip. Syringes with needle could be inspected for needle straightness, needle tip bending and uniformity of glue deposition.

Our systems guarantee accurate inspection results with the application of dedicated lighting and high resolution cameras in combination with carefully designed software algorithms.

Printing on vials and ampoules is inspected to validate crucial information such as lot number, expiry date, medicine name and customers' logo.

The inspection results are provided, online and offline, in multiple graphical and statistical views providing both the operator and the quality department with the required information.

The inspection information are also available in many reporting formats, i.e. batch summary report, both for the customer and the internal use.

Detailed data about the production efficiencies can be collected on electronic files.
