GS24 cartridge machine is a vertical rotating machine with high productive capacity and precision. Thanks to its being compact and to its limited size it can be installed in small spaces.
The machine forms two cartridges at the same time and is made up of a central turret with 24 chucks, and of two side turrets with 10 chucks each. The forming operations of cartridge shoulder, neck and mouth are simultaneously carried out on two diametrically opposed sections of the central turret; the rim glazing occurs in the two side turrets, from where, at the end of the cycle the cartridges are discharged on a moving ring surrounding the machine; then cartridges can be picked up from the ring and moved on the afterforming line. The cartridge forming cycle is completely automatic and allows obtaining, out of a glass tube, cartridges that do not need further forming operation.
The machine moves intermittently. In fact, the upper and the side turrets move between the different stations thanks to a very rapid and precise cam drive and then they stop until the forming operations are carried out. Motion synchronism is ensured by the transmission mechanism stiffness, while high precision and stability in positioning are ensured by cam driven motions.
The upper chucks (central turret) are equipped with double grippers, in order to obtain a more tight glass tubing gripping, are self-centering and don't require any job-change adjustment.
The lower chucks are mounted on the side turrets; they can have two different styles:
- fix [accept only one tube size] (ø 8,95; ø 10,65, ø 11,6 mm), mounted on fix height side turrets
- self centering (ø12 ÷ 17mm - they don't require any job-change adjustments), mounted on height-adjustable side turrets
The forming units are mounted on the machine perfectly aligned with upper chucks also at running temperature. Moreover, the mechanic movement ensures their synchronism and their easy adjustments, both in the pre-forming phase and in the finishing phase. External controls protect operators from hazards, when setting the machine.
All parts of GS24 have been designed and built so as to ensure long life and easy maintenance.
